Very clean and sleek designed head unit that works flawlessly to boot!

This has proven to be a great head unit, much to my surprise with some of these reviews. The first thing I noticed was the heft…this thing is heavy in comparison to many of the ‘good’ American brands. The interface is great, maybe takes a little to get used to but if you've used any two knob stereos (GM comes to mind.) it’s not too unfamiliar. There are many settings, and a very advanced EQ and sub-out setup. The rear USB and MIC out are a wonderful addition that just put this unit one step above the rest. Shop around, feature for feature, there is nothing better. It looks extremely sleek and very clean in comparison to most other American aftermarket units available. It has a permanent clock setting, which is wonderful for many domestic vehicles that do not have a separate clock. The knobs are rubberized and very easy to grip. The radio reception is loads better than my stock head unit also. Bluetooth works flawlessly as well. I get in the... 5/5 Tyler Schimpf - See all my reviews, May 2, 2013

    Still Getting Used To It

We got the 420BT as an upgrade to the first aftermarket Blaupunkt head unit that's in our 2003 Volkswagen Eurovan. The first Blaupunkt unit that the 420BT replaced came after the original stock head unit, which was also manufactured for VW/Audi by Blaupunkt. We upgraded from the VW stock radio to the first Blaupunkt to get CD and CD changer functionality. It served us very well for 7 years, and it matched the VW eurovan's interior motiv very well--complete with red and blue lights, and a nice subdued black finish. It looked like it should have been original equipment. So when we saw that Blaupunkt was again being offered in the US (it disappeared for several years between 2008 and 2012), we decided to upgrade again to the 420BT because of the Bluetooth capability, both for hands-free phone, and for audio streaming, since we both use iphones for music storage and podcasts.First, the good. The 420BT maintains the same exact wiring harness that they have always had, and... 3/5 JonnyW (Southern California) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) All around great product with only minor quirks

I bought this for my 1996 VW Passat because Balupunkt uses the EXACT SAME wiring harness and it was a simple plug and play operation for me with no permanent wire modifications. I have been using it for about one month at the time of writing this reviewPROS: Lots of settings to get it just how you like it, TONS of features (some of which you wouldn't know about unless you read the manual completely), comprehensive array of inputs, and of course Blutooth. Blutooth works like a charm for me; my phone connects automatically as soon as I turn my car on. Call quality is clear when just sitting in the car, but can be a bit hard to hear for the other end if you are driving out and about. Of course, your experience will vary and many external variables to the radio itself come into play. Luckily, there is an external mic available for those who need more clarity. Sound quality is pretty good, considering I'm just running my stock 17 year old speakers. Radio reception for me... 4/5 Kevin Ferris (California, USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This has all the bells and whistles

My stock radio went out in my car a couple of days ago, it would not play CD's of any kind. So it was time to buy a new radio. I ended up buying this one because i have an Ipod and Droid X smart phone. I bought radio from a car audio store. Sorry Amzazon. I paid $250.00 for it so i wasn't overcharged byvery much. The bluetooth on this radio is awesome. I can hear people loud and clear and they can hear me loud and clear. The syncing of my phone was very easy. I turned the bluetooth option on and pushed the phone button on the radio and the radio did the rest. It took a matter of seconds. My Ipod sounds better through the radio than it does through the headphones. You have the option to control your Ipod through the radio or through the Ipod itself. It is HD and satellite radio ready. Which i am thinking about getting sometime in the future. The radio has a very good antenna on it. I like listening to a lot of AM sports radio and with my old radio it would always be fuzzy and cut in... 5/5 Glock Shooter (Utah) - See all my reviews This review is from: Kenwood KDC-X895 eXcelon In-Dash USB/CD Receiver with Built-in Bluetooth (Electronics) My stock radio went out in my car a couple of days ago, it would not play CD's of any kind. Good performance and loaded with features

My wife purchase one of these for me as a Christmas present. I specifically requested this model due to it being Kenwood's most affordable with built in blue tooth. I drive a stick and needed to go hands free with the phone.Anyway, the installation went real easy. I was replacing another aftermarket unit, so it was basically sliding the old one out and this one in.Blue Tooth is a little fickle. It did not like my old flip phone which didn't support address book sharing. It would try to download the address book and my phone would lock-up. There is no way to turn off the address book download. In the interim, I shut off the blue tooth on my phone while I waited for a long overdue phone upgrade. Without the blue tooth connection, it insisted on displaying HF DISCONT. Can't make it go away no matter what settings I changed.Later, got the new phone and it connects beautifully. The phone book is a pain in the butt to navigate though. Still need to figure... 4/5 beepbeep72 - See all my reviews This review is from: Kenwood KDC-X895 eXcelon In-Dash USB/CD Receiver with Built-in Bluetooth (Electronics) My wife purchase one of these for me as a Christmas present. Great Sounding, but tedious to control.

This is a great sounding CD/MP3 player, and much better than my factory system. It fit right into my 95 Legacy, without any dash kit. I bought the system because it had CD/MP3 playback and a front auxiliary jack, and the price was under $100.The manual is pretty good, with some broken English. The volume knob is not tall, making it hard for your fingers to grab. The "equalizer" has several adjustments for bass, midrange, and treble, each having a adjustable frequency, level, and Q or slope. This allows the user to get very tweaked sound that I heard on no car audio with just the level adjustments. Unfortunately, adjusting the sound is not intuitive, (actually, not many of the functions on this stereo are intuitive), and you have to wave your hands around the the panel from one end to get into the equalizer mode, and to the other to make the adjustments. Once your in the adjustment mode (the small circular 4-way button), you have to be careful not to hit left/right... 3/5 E. Martin (Eddington, ME United States) - See all my reviews, April 16, 2008

Great system for a great price

I purchased my JVC KDG340 for my 2002 Toyota Corolla. I paid $83 through amazon and even managed to get free shipping!! All I was looking for was a CD player because the toyota didn't have one when I bought it. I figured for the price I couldn't go wrong but I still wanted good sound and the bluetooth option also caught my eye on this system. Installation went easier then I ever could have imagined. Once done the system looked great in my dash and once I powered it up, to my amazement it sounded even better! The KDG340 comes with sever pre-set equilizer setting that give diffrent styles of sound. The selections are rock, jazz, hip-hop and a user selection that you can create yourself depending on your own taste. For me the pre-set equilizer choices are fine to my needs. Setting up the FM stations was easy. Typical of most units, just go to the stations that you listen to, then press and hold in the number that you want to save that station to. I also purched a JVC... 4/5 John Thompson (Old Bridge New Jersey) - See all my reviews, August 21, 2008
